Personalities, Part 1 (Myers-Briggs, Enneagram & Introversion / Extroversion): Episode 57

Welcome to our two-part show all about personality types! In Episode 57 we discuss the general appeal of self-discovery and the lure (or, for some, skepticism) of personality tests and quizzes. We also discuss the concepts of introversion and extroversion, how neither of us fit a classic mold, and how our needs change over the course of motherhood.

Online Personality Tests (Take yours – it’s fun!)

These are the tests we took, and we’d love you to take them too! Next week in Episode 58 we’ll reveal our results…

  • MYERS-BRIGGS test from 16personalities.com
  • ENNEAGRAM test from ecclecticenergies.com

After you take the tests, we recommend the full Myers-Briggs type descriptions found here, a more in-depth explanation of the Myers-Briggs letters found here, and the descriptions of the nine Enneagram types found here (scroll to bottom of the page)

    Hi
I used to laugh at those test…but I took them a few months ago and they were really revealing!
I’m an INFJ and was wondering why I would always end up conselling people.
Now I know! I’ve also learn to respect my introvert’s needs, and to explain them to my, (Oh so many) extroverted friends.

I’m an enneagram type 2, and knowing to recognize the signs of dysfonction also helped me a lot.

Maybe those test weren’t that silly 🙂

Great show! I took the Myers-Briggs test years ago for premarital counseling (think early 80’s) and didn’t really do much about it. In the last few years, I took it again and have taken it several times since. I am an ESFJ and occasionally I have come up ISFJ when I am overwhelmed with kids/people etc 😉 But I AM an ESFJ and knowing that has helped me tremendously in how I deal with family members and why I do what I do. Having all of my family take it really helped! All 4 kids plus my dh took it and it has helped me so much in my parenting. My dd (12 at the time) said, “This is exactly me!!!” It helped her understand why she is the ways she is too. And it helped me with my expectations of her (she is an ENFP).
Just took the enneagram test and I’m a type 2. Haven’t read too much about that yet…

I’m an ESFJ. Just took the Enneagram and I’m type 2. Now off to listen to episode 58. Can’t wait to hear what you gals are. Although I have my suspicions…..

Binge listening to the show and couldn’t wait to take these tests! I enjoy taking them- they always seem right on. These ones were no different. I am ISFJ-T and Type 6. Maybe I can put this knowledge to use and help myself. Looking forward to what you have to say in Episode 58.
