Okay, I am going to stop putting the groceries away and open my laptop and comment… I just wanted to share 2 things: 1) I was a sassy, first-born, door slammer as well and now that I have one of my own it was nice to be reminded that plenty of other nice, well-adjusted people used to be that way and it will probably pass. So, thank you for sharing that, Sarah. 2) I have smashed the side-mirror off 2 consecutive mini-vans on the side of my garage. My husband is beside himself since the garage doesn’t move and the 2 vans are the exact same size. I have no explanation. But, again, thank you for telling me I am not alone. 😉

I’m originally from Iowa and totally know about corn detasseling. The bus left from the subway parking lot before sunrise and my teachers were put supervisors, just like Meagan describes. It’s a thing, I promise 😉

I’m an Ohio farmer’s wife, and the purpose of detasseling (I hope I explain this right) is that those particular plants are being grown for seed for the following year, and they don’t want to risk cross pollination, so they chop off the part the bees love. Now they have this fancy high riding machine that does it for most farmers, but there are probably some people who still do it by hand :). I love your show and can’t wait to download and listen to it each Tuesday! I’m a new mom (she’s 1), but I love that you’re so real. Thanks!
