Want to know how you can be more environmentally friendly this gifting season? Our contributor Jayme Sherrod shares three easy ways you can make your holidays more sustainable. Watch her reel on our Instagram, and read on for her tips!
? Think ‘Secondhand’ First
One of the best ways to be sustainable is to use what you already have. So when it comes to giving new gifts, think about giving things that are already in circulation – and a great way to do that is to shop secondhand. It doesn’t have to be in person either. Online platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Buy Nothing Groups have incredible deals and offer high-quality, secondhand gifts.
? Give ‘Experiences’ over Things
Another great sustainable action is to take the focus off material items and give experience gifts. While a pass or a class may be great, don’t underestimate the “almost-free” experiences like cooking, coloring, gardening, and hiking!
? Reuse Materials for Wrapping
Did you know a lot of wrapping papers are not recyclable? Up your sustainability game by using what you have around the house for wrapping. You could even bring the kids in on the action over the next few weeks to help you identify materials that may work well for wrapping THEIR gifts! Just a little incentive for them ?
Happy sustainable gifting to you this year, mama! And don’t forget – small actions make a big difference. ?
