Hotel Stays With A Baby: What To Pack & How To Get Some Sleep

Our first hotel stay was when Maddie was 7 months old. I was worried about sleep, solids, pumping, crawling around, and if anyone would have fun. We learned a few things during that stay that will make our lives easier in the future and hopefully yours too! Here are some of my top tips and a short packing list to make your next hotel stay easier and, maybe even enjoyable (?!) with a baby.

Tried And True Tips For Flying With Babies & Toddlers

My four-year-old loves to fly and wants to be a pilot when she grows up. Her eyes light up whenever we talk about traveling and she is always asking when we will be getting on a plane again. But it wasn’t always this way. Here are my favorite practical tips and strategies for easier air travel with babies and toddlers…

Pandemic Babies & The Moms Who Love Them, Part 1: Episode 353

News flash: the babies born at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic are turning two! Their little lives have been marked with fear, stress, sadness . . . and, undeniably, also joy. In today’s episode, Meagan and Sarah are joined by seven moms from our team sharing about their remarkable babies and this historic time they’ve entered the world. You’ll hear different perspectives on how real moms have handled situations like introducing their babies to other people, venturing out into the world, and the little moments that made them think, “Wow, this is a pandemic baby!” Even if you didn’t have a baby in the past two years, you’re sure to appreciate this reflective episode – the first in a two-part series – as we honor the hard and celebrate the specialness of pandemic babies.

She Only Knows “Pandemic Mommy”

After a particularly hard day of parenting, and a few tears shed in front of my husband, he reminded me that no parent of young kids has ever done this before. The guilt that I feel is not necessary. I am doing the best that I can, and this is all my daughter knows. She doesn’t know what life was like before this time, so there’s no reason to compare. For every hard moment, the past two years have been equally filled with good times and special memories that wouldn’t have been made otherwise.

Black Motherhood & Mental Health: Voices 69 With Monique Dozier

Mothers, in general, are experiencing pandemic-related isolation and stress; Black women, in particular, are in crisis. From access to fertility treatments and pregnancy support to delivery complications and postpartum health, disparities around race impact Black mothers throughout their lives. In our latest Voices episode, Meagan speaks with Monique Dozier, licensed therapist and founder of Journey to Genesis Mental Health Services. Monique shares the questions we should all be asking ourselves AND the specific actions we can take to stand hand-in-hand with communities of color. She also reminds us that educating children is an important step in creating a legacy of inclusivity, and shares some of the many joys of being a Black mother.

Baby Steps

When I found out I was pregnant, I immediately started planning. I ordered pregnancy and labor books for next-day delivery, and I followed all of the mom accounts on Instagram. Through those first few months of pregnancy, I created a detailed vision of what motherhood would look like for me. At just over 40 weeks pregnant, I went to my OB for a routine fluid check. After my ultrasound, she walked into my room and told me, “You need to be induced immediately.”

Wait…that wasn’t in my plan.

My abrupt induction was the first hint that motherhood was not going to be about my plans.
