With nearly seven years and more than 600 episodes in our library, it’s both fun AND daunting for new listeners to try to find episodes that fit your specific season of motherhood. And I’d like to help! Here’s a playlist for Jennifer, a toddler mom with Baby #2 on the way.
Navigating Finances With Your Partner
When I was freshly engaged, I envisioned so many aspects of my soon-to-be-married life: slow weekends and sipping our coffee leisurely on our apartment balcony, double dates with friends, grocery shopping and cooking together… I was basically envisioning our life through the lens of a Crate & Barrel catalog. We touched on financial planning in our premarital counseling, but it seemed so stressful and unsexy at the time! Now, ten years into our marriage, I have seen the light and relish in a routine that we’ve instituted: monthly financial and life logistics planning meetings (while sipping our coffee or making dinner together). The longer we are married, the more value I find (and dare I say a little bit of sexiness??) in this regularly planned dialogue with my partner.

Celebrating Black History Month At Home
Black History Month has never been a part of my children’s school curriculum like it was when I was a student. I can’t imagine not knowing the work of Langston Hughes, the brave stories of Ruby Bridges and Rosa Parks, or the life-changing courage that came from brave women like Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth — all of which I started learning about as a very young student. Throughout my years as a mom, I’ve had to come up with fun ways to make the historical stories of extraordinary black men and women come alive in our home. And what better way to do that than with books? Here are some of our family’s favorites – plus a free printable activity kit that I used with my kids last year.
