Cleaning Products Our Team Of Moms Swear By

When we’re faced with the messes of motherhood, what cleaning products always come to the rescue? We asked our contributors to tell us about the cleaning products they can’t live without.

Roborock Vacuum

“We just got a Roborock vacuum (like a Roomba), and it’s life-changing. I turn it on every time we leave the house in the morning and we come home to sand and dog-hair-free floors. The kids are also a little afraid that it will “eat their toys” (I promise I did not instill that fear in them myself), so they’re motivated to clean up before I turn it on.”

-Katherine DeVries, @thepaperdart

O-cedar Spin Mop

“My O-cedar spin mop! You can spin out all the excess water so the floor isn’t super slippery or wet. It adjusts height and is super easy!”

-Ashley Schafluetzel, @ashleydawn519

Tide Powdered Detergent

“Ok, hear me out: my fav cleaning product is powdered Tide! If you don’t follow @gocleanco on Instagram, it is life changing and will change how you clean everything–including the things you use to clean like your washing machine, dishwasher, etc. I use it on my bathtub, bathroom, and my walls when they’re looking scuffed, and I mop with it using the O-cedar spin mop!”

-Kia Hammond, @kiamhammond

Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes

“One of my favorite cleaning products are Weiman Stainless Steel wipes. They take almost zero effort and make my stainless steel appliances–and even my kitchen garbage can!–sparkly and smudge-free.”

-Catie Parrish, The Mom Hour Brand Partnerships Manager

Clorox Toiletwand

“Clorox toilet wand. I know. They are so wasteful but….so necessary.”

-Joanna Martin, @cafedumartin

Dyson Cordless Stick Vacuum

“Dyson cordless stick vacuum (I have the v8). It’s lightweight, cordless, and just works so well! This thing has seriously tripled my frequency of vacuuming because it just makes it so much less of chore.”

-Sandy Hsu, @hopefulsmiles

Resolve Carpet And Upholstery Cleaners

“I have a dog marking/peeing problem in my house, so I’m going to say the entire line of Resolve carpet and upholstery cleaners. It’s what my mom used when pets were peeing in my house as a kid…what a lovely tradition to carry on?”

-Sarah Powers, The Mom Hour Co-host and Executive Producer

Branch Basics

“Branch Basics! I use it on everything from the floors to the counters to laundry. I use it because it is a cleaner option that puts my mind at ease knowing my little’s mouth is on everything and I don’t have to be too worried about her being around it.”

-Sarah Limberg, @sarahelimberg

White Vinegar

“We use white vinegar for everything because we have hard water. I pour some in the dishwasher to avoid water spots and in the washing machine to make the clothes softer.”

-Joanne Ruelos Diaz, @joannerevising

Nitrile Gloves

“I used these all the time in my lab research days, and it recently dawned on me that they would be great for “icky” jobs at home too! Especially when it comes to cleaning the bathroom, I can’t stand doing it with bare hands, but those giant rubber gloves usually used for dishwashing are always ill-fitting and feel so clunky! Nitrile gloves protect but you don’t lose any dexterity, they don’t have have any smell (like latex), and my hands aren’t all dried out from chemicals after cleaning/scrubbing. They come in big boxes of 50-100.”

-Sandy Hsu, @hopefulsmiles

Soft Scrub Cleanser

“Every night I do a kitchen “reset” and part of that is scrubbing the sink. I love it because it’s non-abrasive and smells good (I use the lemon one or the one with oxi in it). And it leaves my sink really clean. I also use it in the bathrooms, but the kitchen is my favorite place to use it.”

-Stacy Bronec, @stacybronec

Bar Keepers Friend

“We have well water that can leave a yellow/orange stain on the sinks and bathtub, and this is the only thing that will get the stains out. You know you’re an adult when you find it so satisfying to squirt it onto the surface and watch the stain go away.”

-Emily Roark, @emilyeroark

Mamison Quality Kitchen Gloves

“I really like these rubber gloves. They last longer than others I’ve tried and (I know this will sound ridiculous) they feel nicer when you’re wearing them. (I learned about them when my friend sent me this article. And now I’m embarrassed about how much I talk about rubber gloves…)”

-Joanne Ruelos Diaz, @joannerevising

Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Cleaner

“Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Cleaner in Lemon Verbena. I use it on so many things: kitchen surface, dining table, floors. It’s not chemically, works great and smells wonderful.”
