This Is Solo Parenthood: Four Moms Get Real About Parenting On Their Own

From divorce to deployment, from single parenthood by choice to splitting shifts and making it work, every solo parenting experience comes with its own challenges. In today’s episode–part one in our This Is Solo Parenthood series–you’ll hear from four moms who do the majority (or all) of the work of parenting on their own. You’ll meet Katie, Paola, Julie, and Kate: each with a different story of solo parenting. Listen as they share honestly about both loneliness and joy, feeling alone and finding support, and what they’ve learned about themselves by parenting solo.

About Our Sponsor

This episode and our This Is Solo Parenthood series were created in partnership with WaterWipes.

It’s always our goal on The Mom Hour to represent motherhood with honesty, nuance, and the foundational belief that there are many, many ways to be a great parent. WaterWipes agrees, and has built their brand on similar principles, recognizing that welcoming a baby into the world is full of love, joy, messes and everything in-between—and that every parent’s experience is unique and full of their own highs and lows.

The #ThisIsParenthood platform is WaterWipes’ way of shining a light on the true realities of parenthood, with the hope that we can normalize a more open, honest conversation around the ups and downs of being a parent. Because at the end of the day, WaterWipes believes the wipes parents use on their little one should be one less thing they have to worry about.

WaterWipes are made with simply two ingredients: 99.9% water and a drop of fruit extract, so parents can trust them for everyday use on baby’s delicate skin. (WaterWipes are even safe enough for use on premature and newborn skin!) WaterWipes are available for purchase online and in-stores nationwide, including Amazon, BuyBuyBaby, Target, Walmart, and Walgreen’s.
