Why Mother’s Day Is Hard (And How To Make It What You Want This Year): Episode 311

If you have mixed feelings about Mother’s Day, you’re not alone. For some, it’s a reminder of loss or grief, unmet expectations or missing people we love. For others, the social media buildup and commercialized clichés create expectations that can lead to disappointment. And even for those who don’t completely dread Mother’s Day, it can be hard to articulate what we really want to the ones who want to spoil us. In short: it’s a lot. In this week’s Episode 311, Meagan and Sarah validate why Mother’s Day can be complicated, reflect on our own celebrations during different seasons of life, and offer ideas for how to celebrate in a way that feels right to you this year. Thank you for this episode! I totally resonated with this… this year, I will be celebrating my 5th Mother’s Day and I’m not excited. For me, too many things happen around Mother’s Day, that it makes Mother’s Day for me feel overlooked. My husbands birthday is May 9 so his birthday ALWAYS around Mother’s Day, or is in actual Mother’s Day like this year. Also, my moms birthday is May 10! I feel like it always has to be about them first. Plus my kids are 4 years and 6 months old so they are too young to do anything for me lol. Hoping Mother’s Day in the future for me will be better. All I want is a weekend alone ? thank you for this episode!!
