Having a simple framework and theme for curating activities helped me to avoid over-planning and Pinterest overwhelm. It was such a joy to spend quality time with my daughter while doing something festive and fun even when life felt crazy. I hope the ideas here will help you simplify planning holiday activities with your little one this year so you can also enjoy more intentional togetherness. Remember, it can start small: just one read-aloud book and one simple craft at a time. Incorporate your own holiday traditions and do as much or as little as you have time for— whether it’s 30 minutes during the weekend or stretching a theme over the course of a few days by adding activities and outings— it doesn’t have to be complicated to be special.
More Than Mom: Where We Nailed It (And Didn’t) In 2021
As 2021 winds down, we’re looking at the habits we picked up – intentionally or accidentally – in the past year. Some habits we stuck with and feel great about; some didn’t serve us as much as we thought they might. We celebrate some areas where we totally nailed it this year and get real about the not-so-healthy habits that crept in, too. From self-care and big improvements, to tech use and baby steps, we look at the different ways our habits showed up in 2021, acknowledging that you don’t have to stick with something for 365 days for it to make an impact. We also laugh about the things Meagan does in bed . . . and the new things she wants to try (wink, wink). We end on a hopeful note, with some early thoughts on 2022 intentions (and lots more to come).
Ten Picture Books For Teaching Emotional Resilience
I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite picture books which touch on the theme of emotional resilience, and learning how to thrive in school, even when the going gets tough.
More Than Mom: Podcast Listening & Book Reading Habits (Plus A Few We’re Loving Lately)
Our habits around media consumption are as unique as each of us is–and, when you think about it, there are quite a few little details that go into how each of us decides when, how, and where to listen to a podcast or pick up a book–not to mention the actual what of the content itself. Today’s More Than Mom episode is a look at how Meagan and Sarah currently consume their listening and reading media, from bluetooth struggles to library holds. As we go, we’ll recommend some shows and titles we’ve enjoyed so far this year too.
More Than Mom: What We Do For Fun In 2021
The real question is: are we still entertained by squirrels as much as we were last spring? You’ll have to listen to find out! In today’s More Than Mom episode Meagan and Sarah take a deep dive into diversions, 2021-style. We’re not as cooped up as last March, but things aren’t back to normal yet either. From this in-between place we talk about a little of everything: board games for adults, TV and books, home improvement and gardening, fitness, beauty, and more. (And squirrels, obvs.)
More Than Mom: Meagan And Sarah Get Stranded On A Deserted Island
We’re all dreaming about getting away right now, but traditional travel and typical vacations don’t feel like they’re going to be a thing for, well, a while. So today Meagan and Sarah are dreaming BIG – stranded on a deserted island big. Join us for a silly–but somehow also theraputic in 2020?–exercise in hypothetical thinking. We discuss what we’d bring with us to an island escape, what our fantasy island dwelling would be like, and how we’d spend our time.
