Books We’re Loving Lately: Voices 72 With Joanna Martin & Katherine DeVries

Settle in for a books chat! Sarah is joined by two guest co-hosts from our contributor team today: Joanna and Katherine. Both are former educators and avid readers, here with lots to say about books. We touch on our reading lives as moms, what we’re reading lately, and how and when we prefer to do our reading. Then we dive into book recommendations for kids – starting with babies and moving all the way up through teens. This episode is for anyone who loves to read or aspires to read more – grab a warm beverage and join us!

I enjoyed today’s podcast! I have a Kindle Voyage, which is no longer made, but I love it and prefer to read on it. It has buttons for page turning on both sides and being a lefty, I love that. I love having my whole library available on such a small device that I can read anytime, in the bright sunlight or in bed at night. I check out books from the library, but I rarely read real books anymore. I get ebooks and listen to audiobooks from Libby. I started listening to non-fiction, but I have expanded my horizons to listening to more fiction the last few years. I have my favorite narrators and will sometimes search books by the narrator. I keep track of my TBR books in several places, including an Amazon wishlist with notes on whether they are available on Libby or from my local library. I also have a to read list on Libby and on my library’s website. I have my most useful TBR list in my bullet journal with 3 columns for audiobooks, ebooks and real books. I used to track my reading on Goodreads until last year when I started tracking on StoryGraph. I like StoryGraph much better than Goodreads. It keeps track of types of books read, format, book length. I was able to migrate my Goodreads info to Storygraph and haven’t looked back. I highly recommend it!
